What is School Wide Positive Behaviour Support?

The School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) approach supports the implementation of the school’s vision, values and expectations. The SWPBS framework is used to promote high expectations in managing self and interacting with others. It encompasses three tiers of an intervention cycle that predicts and prevents problems, ensures a consistent approach and monitors how programs and strategies are working.

The goal of the SWPBS is to create and maintain a stimulating learning environment which promotes:

  • Being safe
  • Being responsible
  • Being a learner

It enhances our school culture where we maximize individual academic and social growth. Essex Heights Primary School encourages strong links within the school community. The school values were selected through discussion with students, families and staff and are valued highly: respect, friendliness, honesty, persistence and inclusiveness.
