Manga High Maths Ninja Challenge 2018
EHPS students took out first place in the 2018 challenge.
"It was a committed effort from 366 students from Essex Heights Primary School, right from the start! Students spent over 790 hours across two weeks (89% of that time completing work at home) to hold their first place since Day 4!"
Antarctic Icebreaker Naming Competition
In 2017, three teams of Year 6 students entered the nationwide ‘Name Our Icebreaker’ school competition run by the Australian Government. There were 800 entries received. EHPS teams entered an animation (The Gondwana Spirit), a live action submission (Unity Australis), and a written entry (Valour Australis). 'The Gondwana Spirit' won one of the four runner-up prizes. The judges’ commented: "All the students who entered this competition should be commended for their enthusiastic approach and willingness to research, discuss and collaborate to create outstanding entries." ACMI: Screen It 2017
Winner - Junior Animation (Foundation to Year 4)
Screen It is Australia’s biggest annual student film competition. Run by the expert Education Team at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), Screen It is designed to promote rich learning outcomes for screen literacy across Australian primary and secondary school students. The theme in 2017 was ‘Time’. ACMI received a record of 829 entries from more than 3000 students from across Australia. Our class entry won the Junior Animation (Foundation to Year 4) category with their film "Spending Time Wisely".'Spending Time Wisely' was a finalist in The 2018 SAE ATOM Awards in the Best Primary School Animation category.
