NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) involves students in Years 3 and 5 from all states and territories in Australia. 2019 NAPLAN testing will take place on Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th May. Students will be assessed on their skills in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, punctuation and grammar) and numeracy. These national test results provide information on how your child is progressing and performing in the key areas of literacy and numeracy and help to support improvements in teaching to benefit your child. Teachers have been working with their classes to prepare them for NAPLAN. Please remember that NAPLAN is only an assessment in one point of time and complements all the other valuable assessments carried out by classroom teachers on a regular basis. You can support your children to be ready to participate in these assessments by making a smooth, calm start to each day. Simple tasks such as ensuring that your child has breakfast before coming to school, and that children arrive to school on time can make a big difference. Two correct answers can be the difference between medium growth and high growth, so a good start to the day and plenty of sleep throughout the week can be enough to help your child achieve their best.
