Essex Heights Primary School has a well-equipped Health Centre. A First Aid Officer is employed from 11am to 3pm Monday to Friday (supported by staff with Level 2 First Aid qualifications outside these hours) to provide care to any child who may have an accident, becomes ill at school or requires medication to be administered during school hours. Medication administered at school must be accompanied by a Medication Authority form (link below).
If a child has an accident or becomes ill at school, the first action of the school is to comfort the child, give first aid and medical assistance. If urgent medical assistance is required, an ambulance will be called and the child supported until this arrives. Every endeavour is made to contact parents or the emergency contacts. If a child is too unwell to return to class, parents will be contacted and must collect their child from school. Parents are requested not to send unwell children to school under any circumstance.
