Essex Heights Primary School (EHPS), a Victorian government primary school for Prep to Year 6 students in Mount Waverley. We welcome your enquiry about the enrolment of your child.

Prep Enrolment

Years 1 to 6 Enrolment

Contact our Office to enquire if a place is available. Enrolment for entry in 2021 should be submitted by Friday 27th November 2020. An Orientation Day will be held early in December 2020.

Children not born in Australia or not an Australian Citizen

If enrolment is sought for a child who was not born in Australia or is not an Australian Citizen you may be required to enrol via the International Education Division of the Department of Education & Training, depending on the visa held by the child. Please advise the child's residential status in Australia (permanent or termporary) and the Visa Subclass number and, where defined, the Sector, as advised on the child's Visa Grant Notice when enquiring about enrolment. If your child currently has a Bridging Visa, please also provide the Visa Subclass and, where defined, the Sector, of the visa held prior to the Briding Visa.

Students from language backgrounds other than English are eligible to attend the intensive English program at Blackburn English Language School (BELS) if they are:

• aged between 5 and 18 years; and
• a permanent resident of Australia; or
• the holder of an eligible temporary resident visa in Australia; and
• have been in Australia less than six months (or 18 months if Prep entry is required).

Short Term Enrolment

• A child's date of birth determines which year level they are placed in. A place at EHPS can only be offered if there is space in the required year level.
• Tuition at EHPS is in English, so the child needs to have English language ability that will allow them to communicate with their teachers and other students, and comprehend at their year level. There are no extra support services available for short term students.
• Uniform is required at EHPS.
• If the child is enrolled through the IED program, the cost of any activities/excursions/incursions that occur during the period of enrolment must also be paid by parents/guardians.
• There will be no report prepared for short term enrolment. A confirmation of enrolment can be provided if required.

• the child's full name
• date of birth
• visa subclass number and type
• residential address when in Melbourne; and
• start and end dates of enrolment

Enrolment Process:

1. Enrolment forms provided in the information pack (provided at the conclusion of a school tour, or can be collected from our Office between 9.30am and 2.30pm):
   
   1. EHPS Student Enrolment form
   2. Student Learning Needs form 
   3. Medical Details form 
2. Birth certificate (official Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages certificate, not the ceremonial copy).
3. School Entry Immunisation Certificate:
   1. Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement stating that "This child has received all vaccines required by five years of age/No vaccines required" (note: the records in a child’s maternal and child health book cannot be accepted); OR
   2. If your child's immunisation record are incomplete, missing, your child has been vaccinated overseas, or your child has never been vaccinated:
      1. Visit the City of Monash Council Immunisation Service (Monash Civic Centre, 293 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley) and request an Immunisation Status Certificate for school entry; provide us with the lodgement document.
      2. Provide the Immunisation Status Certificate from the City of Monash when this is received.
      3. When vaccinations are complete, provide the AIR immunisation history statement.
4. Permanent residential (home) address verification documentation (address must be the home of the student at the time of commencement of enrolment; minimum three documents required):
   
   1. Contract of sale (unconditional) OR Lease document (minimum term of 12 months) for the child's permanent residential address at time of enrolment; AND
   2. Utility bills (eg electricity, gas, or water) - most recent bills; and/or
   3. Driver licence; and/or
   4. City of Monash rates notice; and/or
   5. Home and contents policy.
5. School report/s - two most recent reports from previous 12 months (not applicable for children commencing in Prep; however, if starting in semester 2, please provide the semester 1 report). Most recent NAPLAN report can also be submitted if completed.
6. Asthma Managment Plan (if applicable)
7. Allergy and/or Anaphylaxis Management Plan (if applicable)
8. Court orders (if applicable)
9. If child was not born in Australia or is not an Australian citizen:
   1. Passport
   2. Immigration/Residency documentation:
      1. Visa Grant Notice from the Australian Government
      2. Certificate of citizenship (if applicable)
10. If EHPS is not your designated neighbourhood school:  Short statement of no more than one page explaining your choice of EHPS for your child, addressed to our Principal, Mr George Perini.

Shared Custody:  Where there is shared custody and a child lives with both parents at different addresses by agreement between the parents or by parenting orders from a court, an additional form must be completed. Please let us know if this applies for your family so we can provide the relevant documentation.

All documentation, as detailed above, must be supplied to the School Office before your enrolment can be confirmed. Complete enrolment documentation must be provided a minimum of one week prior to the commencement date of the student. A meeting with the Year Level Coordinator and other relevant staff prior to commencement may be requested to assist a child's transition to EHPS. Please note that our Office is closed during school holidays, so if enrolment is required at the commencement of term, then documentation must be received a minimum of one week prior to the end of the proceeding term. Enrolment confirmation, including the school start date, will be advised by letter from the EHPS Principal.

Enrolment for entry in 2020
Contact our Office to enquire regarding availability of a place in the required year level. If a place can be offered, enrolment documentation must be submitted a minimum of one week prior to the student's commencement date.

Enrolment for entry in 2021
PREP:  Submit the documentation detailed above by Friday 29th May 2020 (information pack, including enrolment forms, is provided after attendance on a school tour, or is available from our Office). After 29th May 2020, contact our Office to confirm a place is available before submitting documentation.
YEARS 1 to 6:  Contact our Office to enquire regarding availability of a place in the required year level. Submit the documentation detailed above on receipt of confirmation from us that a place can be offered. Submit within one month of enrolment offer, and not later than Friday 27th November 2020. An orientation day for students commencing in Years 1 to 6 in 2021 will be held in early December.

Enrolment for entry in 2022 and beyond
Enrolment is submitted in the year prior to commencement. The information provided on this website should be referred to when considering your child's schooling, and you are invited to attend a school tour in the year prior to entry.
