Other Important Information

• The Year 1 Team strives to send out a weekly update via Compass regarding upcoming important information.

Sport

• Each week, students spend time learning fundamental motor skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, catching and more. 
• They participate in games and short activities, movement sequences and solve movement challenges.

 English

• Children are focusing on learning the important foundational skills in Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening.
• We use the Little Learners Love Literacy phonics program to support children's decoding skills reading and encoding skills in writing.

 Maths

• Students develop foundational skills in Mathematics with a large focus on Number, to develop number sense and confidence with numbers.
• The key areas of mathematics we focus on are:  Number, Algebra, Space, Measurement, Statistics.
• We regularly review learning for revision and consolidation of skills and concepts.
• Children are encouraged to use Matific at home to support their mathematics skills.
